Not every cooling tower operates with clean circulating water. When suspended solids, fouling, or debris are recurring problems, the structure of the cooling tower fill should be considered as part of the system design.

Open Structure Can Be an Engineering Advantage

Splash Grid Fill uses a relatively open grid structure rather than closely spaced film-forming sheets. The larger passages provide more room for water, air, and suspended particles to move through the fill.

When Is It Worth Considering?

Splash fill can be considered for cooling towers where water quality, suspended solids, or fouling make narrow flow passages difficult to maintain. It may also be suitable for certain industrial process cooling applications.
